Hidayatullah.com—The Israeli occupation forces isolate the Governor of the Palestinian Authority in occupied Jerusalem (Baitul Maqdis) in his hometown of Silwan, East Jerusalem, the Wafa news agency reported.

Governor Adnan Ghaith is also barred from making contact with more than 50 people, including Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh.

A statement issued by the governor’s office deemed this a dangerous and unprecedented act against the governor of Jerusalem.

This, according to the statement, took place in the context of the Israeli occupation which imposed sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem. The statement also said that the occupation state “Israel” is trying to erase and end the Palestinian presence in the holy city.

The move comes after Israeli forces issued an order last month restricting its movement in Jerusalem.

However, such a move is not surprising given that Ghaith has been detained and his residence raided several times in recent months. These crimes are the Zionist government’s ongoing violations of Palestinian officials, activists and institutions in occupied Jerusalem.

Earlier this year, Ghaith was barred from entering the West Bank occupied for six consecutive months by Israeli soldiers, on the pretext that he participated in “illegal and violent activities”.

Another order was issued by the General Commander of the illegal Israeli occupation Central District, which prevented Adnan Ghaith from communicating with the PA.

The Jewish state claims that Ghaith’s activities in the city undermine his authority, however, in any case, the occupation provides no evidence to justify Ghaith’s continued detention. *
